What is Mild Hyperbaric Therapy?

Mild HBOT is a treatment in which a person is exposed to an increased atmospheric pressure inside an inflatable chamber.  The typical pressure reaches 1.3 atmospheres, the equivalent of 11 feet below sea level.  The increase in pressure allows more oxygen to reach the cells of the body which has many healing and therapeutic benefits.

 How does mild HBOT work?

According to Henry’s Law of Physics, an increase in pressure allows more gas to be dissolved in any given liquid.  If the gas is oxygen, and the liquid is blood, or cerebral spinal fluid (brain) and synovial fluid (joints), then increased pressure increases oxygen delivery to the tissues.  HBOT encourages the growth of new blood vessels, reduces inflammation and destroys harmful bacteria.  It allows for rapid healing of wounds, improved sleep and increased energy.  HBOT calms the mind and stabilizes the central nervous system.

The importance of O2

O2 is the primary source of energy, our life force.  Oxygen feeds and fuels the body, supports the immune system, destroys toxic substances and promotes new cell growth.  Oxygen is the fuel required for proper operation of all body systems.

Ninety (90%) of our energy comes from oxygen, only ten (10 %) comes from food. Anaerobic bacteria, fungi, viruses and cancer cells can’t survive in a highly oxygenated environment.  Oxygen deficiency has been linked to the aging process too!

 Mild HBOT is Safe

The mild hyperbaric chambers in our office uses filtered ambient air, so there is no risk of oxygen toxicity to the body even with regular use.  The chamber can be pressurized and opened from the inside.

Once inside the chamber, both visual and verbal communication is possible with the outside, and there is also a doorbell if you need to get an attendant’s attention.

Most people report a comfortable, relaxing experience and emerge from the chamber feeling refreshed.  The treatment is non-invasive, non- pharmaceutical, and there are no dangerous side effects.

What to expect

Treatment time is 1- 1.5 hours.  Bring your phone, computer or a good book.  You can bring your own pillow and sheet, but one can be provided.  Most people fall asleep during treatment due to HBOTs calming effects.
